Dr. C.A. “Buddy” Brice, Dr. Jason Rector and Dr. Austin McMurphy provide sedation dentistry to help your child feel comfortable during their treatment. We may recommend sedation dentistry if your child feels fearful or anxious or if they require a more complex or lengthy treatment. We invite you to contact Pediatric Dental Specialists to learn more about sedation dentistry in Biloxi and Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and schedule a consultation with our pediatric dentists.
There are a variety of sedation options available for your child. Before we provide any form of sedation, we will meet with you and your child one-on-one to discuss their oral health needs, medical history and sedation options. Here are a few of the options that we will discuss with you:
- Nitrous Oxide — Also known as laughing gas, this mild sedative uses a special gas to help your child feel relaxed and comfortable.
- Oral Sedation — This form of sedation uses oral medication to help your child manage fear and anxiety and receive their care in comfort.
- General (Hospital) Sedation — This form of sedation is usually recommended for children and special needs patients who cannot receive treatment while conscious. It allows them to sleep through the procedure so that they can receive the care they need without stress or anxiety.
Our pediatric dentists and team will monitor your child throughout their entire sedation experience and treatment to ensure that they are safe and comfortable. We will also provide detailed instructions to help you prepare for your child’s sedation treatment and recovery following their visit to our office.
Please keep in mind that your child will be groggy and drowsy after receiving sedation dentistry. They will need someone to monitor them for several hours following treatment.
